COPENHAGEN, Nov. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Danish government is to provide 75 million Danish Krones (around 11 million U.S. dollars) to strengthen European Union (EU) action in Africa, said a press release from the Foreign Ministry on Monday.

The Danish contribution, according to the statement, will be provided to the European Fund for Sustainable Development (EFSD) under the EU's External Investment Plan and will be used to promote growth and employment in Africa, as well as address climate challenges and migration.

"The Fund is a good tool in fighting the climate challenge, and thus also the root causes of migration," said Rasmus Prehn, Minister for Development Cooperation, in the press release.

In addition to the financial contribution to the EFSD, a Danish expert will also be seconded to assist the European Commission in implementing the External Investment Plan.

The EFSD, established by the EU in 2017, is one of the EU financial instruments that promote a proactive development aid policy.
