RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Brazilian real dipped to a record low against the U.S. dollar on Tuesday, closing at 4.239 reals per dollar, despite attempts by the Central Bank of Brazil to prop up the local currency.

The real fell 0.63 percent from Monday when the dollar fetched 4.212 reals at exchange houses.

On Tuesday, the real first tumbled to 4.27 against the dollar, before the central bank announced it was selling dollars on the market to stop the real's slide.

The real has devalued 5.73 percent in November, making it the fourth most devalued currency against the dollar, after the Venezuelan bolivar, the Zambian kwacha and the Chilean peso.

Minister of Economy Paulo Guedes said Brazil still has a strong currency and the slide against the dollar is nothing to worry about.
