BEIJING, Nov. 28 (Xinhua) -- Beijing beat Shandong 78-69 while defending champions Dongguan downed Wuhan 97-57 in the third round of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) league on Thursday.
Teaira McCowan had a game-high 29 points and 20 rebounds for Beijing, Shao Ting added 11 points, while Li Yuan led Shandong with 17 points.
Beijing led by seven in the first quarter, started the second quarter with an 8-2 run leading 44-28 at halftime en route to their third straight win.
Dongguan had four players scoring double figures, led by Li Yueru with 23 points and six rebounds, as the defending champions eased past Wuhan 97-54 for their three-game winning streak.
Elizabeth Cambage spearheaded the attacks of Shanxi, combining for the first 25 points with teammates Yu Dong and Wu Tongtong. Although Maggie Lucas hit a pair of three-pointers for Tianjin, Shanxi led the first half by 14 points, and enlarged it to more than 20 points in the third before Cambage was benched for the whole fourth period, who still had a game-high 31 points as Shanxi beat Tianjin 100-73.
As the favourites to win the title, Bayi outclassed Zhejiang 105-62 with Sun Mengran making 19 points and six rebounds, while Wang Jiaqi led Zhejiang with 12 points and six rebounds.
In Fujian, Kelsey Renee Bone posted a game-high 40 points plus six rebounds to lead Fujian for a 99-78 win over Henan.
In other games on Thursday, Inner Mongolia beat Shaanxi 85-80, Jiangsu outscored Shanghai 75-68, Hebei defeated Sichuan 70-64 and Xinjiang routed Daqing 112-47.
