TOKYO, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks extended gains Monday morning as solid Chinese manufacturing data released over the weekend lifted the market mood and eased concerns over the outlook for the global economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average jumped 257.97 points, or 1.11 percent, from Friday to 23,551.88.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, climbed 16.49 points, or 0.97 percent, at 1,715.85.
Marine transportation, pulp and paper, and electric appliance-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
