ANKARA, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Chinese embassy in Turkey on Monday held a planting ceremony in "China-Turkey Friendship Forest" with Mamak district municipality of the capital Ankara.
"We want to contribute both to the environment where we live and to our World," Chinese Ambassador to Ankara Deng Li said at the planting ceremony.
"The trees we planted will be the symbol of our friendship," he said. The ambassador thanked the mayor of Mamak and expressed his will that the ceremony would be a beginning for further joint projects with the municipality.
Mamak Mayor Murat Kose expressed his hope that the municipality wants to have further joint projects with China in terms of arts, culture, and trade.
The mayor noted that the bilateral ties between Turkey and China will get closer under the Belt and Road Initiative.
"Having successfully implemented national afforestation and reforestation programs, China has been leading the world in afforestation during the past few years," he said.
"I hope that relations between Mamak and China will get stronger with the growth of the trees," he added.
