KUNMING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- A fleet of 45 vehicles started its journey from Kunming, Southwest China's Yunan province on Tuesday in the rain.
The event is called the 2019 Belt and Road International Rally, which will travel about 5,000 kilometers in the next 18 days, and return to China after crossing Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar.
"The event is expected to set the stage for sports, economic and cultural communication between China's southwestern Yunnan province and its neighboring countries, as related activities are held along the way," said Yin Yong, director of the Yunnan sports bureau.
"For this year's rally, four vehicle races and one sepak takraw challenge will be held in the four countries," Yin added.
It is the fourth edition of the event, and gradually gaining brand awareness in south and southeast Asia.
