China disapproves 280,000 arrests in 11 months

BEIJING, Dec. 3 (Xinhua) -- China's procuratorate organs disapproved the arrest of 280,000 people out of 1.277 million from January to November, said the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) Tuesday.

The SPP released the figure during its 33rd open day event.

It represents the prudence of the procuratorate organs when approving arrests and their efforts to reduce the number of arrests to avoid improper infringement on suspects' rights, the SPP said.
