KIEV, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- At least 18 civilians were killed and 124 others injured in conflict-ridden eastern Ukraine between January and October this year, a special mission of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) said Thursday.

According to the OSCE mission, out of all the 380 casualties recorded in eastern Ukraine since the beginning of 2018, 133 were caused by mines and other explosive objects.

"Civilians were killed and injured by these objects in a variety of circumstances and conditions," said a report released by the mission.

Earlier this week, the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense informed that over 1,000 people were affected by mines or other explosive remnants since the beginning of the conflict in eastern Ukraine.

The ongoing conflict in eastern Ukraine broke out in April 2014.
