Turkey to hold donation meeting to support quake-hit Albania: PM Rama

TIRANA, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Turkey will hold a donation conference to support Albania to cope with the damages caused by the earthquake that hit the country on Nov. 26, Prime Minister Edi Rama said here on Friday.

Rama made the statement during a government's meeting to discuss the post-earthquake situation.

"Tomorrow I will travel to Istanbul to attend a meeting organized by the Turkish President with investors and businessmen, where we will have a special panel to address Albania's issue," Rama said

Following the devastating 6.4-magnitude earthquake, Turkey announced that it will construct 500 housing units in Albania.

Up to now, two Turkish airplanes have arrived in Albania, carrying relief supplies for families affected by the earthquake.

According to the Turkish embassy in Tirana, the Turkish Red Crescent has brought 150 tents, 150 blankets, 300 portable beds and 150 heaters via the Turkish military aircraft.
