LISBON, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Embassy in Portugal on Thursday expressed its strong oppositions against the anti-China allegations made by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during his visit to Lisbon.

China expresses its strong dissatisfactions and vehement oppositions against Pompeo's attacks on the Chinese government as well as the Communist Party of China (CPC) and his smearing at the Chinese hi-tech company Huawei, which reflected the deep-rooted Cold War mentality and ideological bias of the United States, a spokesperson said in a written statement.

The U.S. side has claimed that Huawei's 5G mobile network has security risks, but so far no one country or company or individual could provide solid proof for that claim, said the statement.

The U.S. deliberate defamation over Huawei is merely to suppress the legitimate operation of the Chinese company under the disguise of the security excuses, it added.

The statement also called on all parties concerned to recognize the true intention of the United States, abandon the Cold War mentality, adhere to the principles of fairness, justice and non-discrimination, promote cooperation among all parties in the 5G field, and jointly build a safe, open, transparent and healthy 5G ecosystem.

China has made great achievements over the past 70 years under the leadership of the CPC, said the statement. "China's development has not only benefited the Chinese people, but also improved the well-being of the people of the world, and is making greater contributions to world peace and economic development."

"Any attempt to defame the CPC and the socialist path with Chinese characteristics is doomed to fail," it added.
