TORONTO, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- A photo exhibition marking the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China (PRC) opened Saturday in Scarborough in Greater Toronto Area.

Acting Consul General of Chinese Consulate-General in Toronto Zhuang Yaodong and hundreds of people visited the show named the Photography Exhibition to Celebrate 70th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China.

A total of 160 photos tell the story of how China has transformed from an underdeveloped country before 1949 into the world's second largest economy.

The exhibition presents a variety of collections featuring Chinese manufacture, poverty alleviation, unity among ethnic groups, ecological improvement, peaceful development, win-win cooperation, and a community with a shared future.

Canadian Senator Victor Oh said the exhibition is a really great photo show and it is his first time to see so many Chinese photos in Canada, noting it reflects the practices, achievements and experiences of the PRC in the past 70 years.

Andrew Collin, a Canadian businessman who has been to China more than 40 times since 1972, told Xinhua that the exhibition records the continuous rise of China's international status and influence, as well as China's contribution to world development and peace.

The exhibition is sponsored by the Canada-China Elite Think Tank with the help of China Image Group.
