BOGOTA, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- America de Cali won their 14th Colombian first division title on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Junior Barranquilla in the second leg of the Clausura tournament final.
The result followed a 0-0 draw in the first leg in Barranquilla and secured America a place in next year's Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club competition.
The hosts went ahead in the 19th minute thanks to a Sebastian Viera own goal and Carlos Sierra doubled the lead by toe-poking in from close range just before halftime. Junior were reduced to 10 men when Marlon Piedrahita was shown a red card for a second bad foul with 10 minutes remaining.
It was America's first top flight title since 2008, when they defeated Independiente Medellin 4-1 in the final over two legs.
The club returned to Colombia's top division in 2017 after five years in the second tier.
