BUENOS AIRES, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Argentinos Juniors moved to the top of the Argentinian Superliga on Monday despite being held to a 1-1 home draw by Estudiantes.
Veteran Uruguayan striker Santiago Silva put the hosts ahead with a penalty on the stroke of halftime after Facundo Mura brought down Gabriel Hauche.
Argentina U-20 center-back Nazareno Colombo headed in an equalizer with 12 minutes left after a Gaston Fernandez set-piece.
The result left Argentinos Juniors on 30 points from 16 matches, one point ahead of second-placed Boca Juniors. Estudiantes were 12th, six points off the pace.
In Monday's only other match, Velez Sarsfield clinched a 1-0 win at Patronato thanks to an early own goal from Gabriel Diaz. The hosts were reduced to ten men just before halftime when Dardo Miloc was shown a second yellow card for a bad foul.
