BERLIN, Dec. 11, (Xinhua) -- German stocks were almost unchanged at the start of trading on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index increasing by 4.71 points, or 0.08 percent, opening at 13,075.43 points.

The biggest winner among Germany's 30 largest listed companies at the start of trading was Germany's biggest airline Lufthansa, increasing 0.52 percent, followed by consumer goods firm Henkel with 0.49 percent and sportswear manufacturer Adidas with 0.36 percent.

Following losses of 4.6 percent on Tuesday, shares of Wirecard continued to fall and decreased by 0.96 percent. The German financial service provider was the biggest loser at the start of trading on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, Europe's largest tourism company TUI is scheduled to present its annual report for 2019. Profits of TUI had already fallen by 85 percent between April and June. The result had been dampened by the loss of flying permission for Boeing's 737 Max as replacements had to be rented to maintain operations.

TUI, headquartered in Germany, had been listed on Germany's DAX between 1990 and 2008 and is now listed at the British FTSE 100. Shortly after trading started on Wednesday, shares of TUI increased by 1.37 percent.

Business insolvencies in Germany had decreased by 2.3 percent from January to September compared to last year, the German Federal Statistical Office said on Wednesday. Germany's retail and construction sector had recorded most company insolvencies.

The euro was trading almost unchanged at 1.1095 U.S. dollars, increasing slightly by 0.02 percent on Wednesday morning.
