Int'l seminar on interfaith exchanges held in Beijing

BEIJING, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- An international seminar on interfaith exchanges and the building of a community of a shared future for humanity was held Wednesday in Beijing.

Hosted by the China Committee on Religion and Peace (CCRP), the seminar gathered over 30 Chinese and foreign representatives from religious and academic circles.

As the community of a shared future for humanity has taken shape, it is all the more imperative for different civilizations and religions to conduct exchanges and mutual learning to cope with unprecedented challenges, Pagbalha Geleg Namgyae, chairman of the CCRP, said in a written address.

Representatives discussed topics including religion and ecological civilization, cultural values of religion, and religion and social harmony, sharing the philosophies and practices of different countries and religions in tackling global challenges.

In his closing remarks, Deng Zongliang, executive vice chairman of the CCRP, called for concerted and pragmatic efforts to promote social harmony and progress under the principles of inclusiveness, openness and mutual respect.
