TEHRAN, Dec. 11 (Xinhua) -- Iranian experts have recently thwarted a major cyber attack on the country's electronic infrastructure, official IRNA news agency reported on Wednesday.

"We encountered an organized attack on the e-government infrastructure," Iran's Minister of Communication and Information Technology Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi was quoted as saying.

However, the attack was countered by the country's security shield, he said, adding that the details were yet to be released in the near future.

In October, the head of Iranian Civil Defense Organization Gholam Reza Jalali said that Iran had taken legal actions against the United States for its "cyber attacks and threats" against Iran.

In June, the U.S. military announced that it had launched cyberattacks against Iranian missile control systems after Tehran downed an American surveillance drone over the Gulf earlier in the month.
