Attacker threatening police in Paris shot dead: media

PARIS, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- A man who threatened police officers with a knife at La Defense square, a business district Paris, on Friday morning was shot dead by the police, reported French media.

The attacker had rushed at the police officers patrolling the site, shouting "I'm going to kill you" before he was shot by police, according to public television France 3.

The report added that the man, hit in the chest and in the thigh, succumbed to his injuries. His identity is unknown yet.

Earlier in the morning, Paris police announced that "a man threatening police officers with a white arm was neutralized by the police officers involved" and asked people to avoid the area.
