French shares gain 0.59 pct on Friday

PARIS, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Friday with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.59 percent, or 34.76 points, to close at 5919.02 points.

A total of 32 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

French multinational hospitality company Accor advanced 2.44 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French car manufacturer Peugeot rose 2.24 percent and French international luxury group Kering gained 1.81 percent.

French industrial group Legrand lost 0.90 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French multinational telecommunications corporation Orange S.A. lost 0.78 percent and Safran, the multinational aircraft engine, rocket engine, aerospace component and defense company, edged down 0.62 percent.
