LUSAKA, Dec. 14 (Xinhua) -- Private enterprises in central Zambia's Kabwe town on Saturday appealed to Chinese investors to explore the investment potential that the town offers.

David Longe, Vice-President of the Kabwe Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said since the closure of the mines, the town has remained dormant in terms of industrial economic activities.

He said in an interview with Xinhua that the private sector in the town was looking forward to seeing increased investment from China following the establishment of an economic zone by Jiangxi United Industrial Investment Limited.

The official said Chinese enterprises with their advanced technology as well as skilled human resource, would go a long way in revamping the economic status of the town through investment in various sectors.

The town, he said, offers enormous investment opportunities in agriculture and manufacturing, among other sectors, which Chinese enterprises could explore.

He said local enterprises would like to see joint venture projects with Chinese enterprises, a move which would result in the transfer of technology and skills development.

China's advanced economic growth and industrial development was worth emulating and that local enterprises were keen to tap into the Chinese experience, he added.
