THE HAGUE, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- AZ beat Ajax 1-0 in Alkmaar on Sunday to go level on points with the Dutch league leaders.

For the first time since the collapse of the roof of the stadium in Alkmaar, AZ were able to play a home match again and it was against Eredivisie leaders and reigning champions Ajax, who started without the injured Daley Blind, Nicolas Tagliafico, Quincy Promes and David Neres.

Without creating major chances, AZ were the better team in Alkmaar. However, Ajax almost took the lead against the run of play when defender Lisandro Martinez headed a free-kick by Hakim Ziyech onto the post in the second half.

After 90 minutes of play the match seemed destined to end in a goalless draw, but a header by AZ striker Myron Boadu in the final minute after a corner by Fredrik Midtsjoe gave the home team a 1-0 win. It meant the third defeat in a row for Ajax, after losses against Willem II (2-0) in the Eredivisie and Valencia CF (1-0) in the Champions League.

Also in the Eredivisie on Sunday, Feyenoord defeated struggling PSV 3-1 in Rotterdam. Steven Berghuis opened the scoring with a header and the Feyenoord captain added two more through a couple of penalties. PSV substitute Gaston Pereiro produced PSV's consolation goal with a beautiful lob in the final minutes.

After a surprising win at Ajax, Willem II notched another away win at Heerenveen (2-1) on Friday. Vangelis Pavlidis and Mike Tresor Ndayishimiye scored for Willem II, with Rodney Kongolo scoring a consolation for Heerenveen.

Ajax still lead the Eredivisie at the season's halfway point with 41 points from 17 matches, now level on points with AZ. Willem II are third on 32 points and PSV are fourth on 31 points.
