JERUSALEM, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Israel and Montenegro have signed an agreement under which Israel will provide the Balkan country with weapons systems worth some 35 million U.S. dollars, Israel said on Monday.

The deal was signed in the Israeli Defense Ministry in Tel Aviv on Sunday by Israel's Director-General of the Defense Ministry Udi Adam and Montenegro's Defense Minister Predrag Boskovic.

Under the deal, Elbit Systems, Israel's largest non-governmental weapons and security company, will supply the Montenegrin Armed Forces with Remote Controlled Weapon Stations for Montenegro's new armored 4X4 light tactical vehicles.

The new systems will enable accurate firing during movement.

Yehuda Vered, general manager of Elbit Systems' Land Division, said in a statement issued by the company that the new contract "further expands" the company's "NATO customer base."

He said that the company is witnessing a growing demand worldwide to its Remote Controlled Weapon Stations, adding that "many hundreds" of these systems are already operational onboard several land and naval platforms.
