COPENHAGEN, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) -- Danish economic growth is feared to slow down in the future as "the dark clouds have moved closer," said Danish Finance Minister Nicolai Wammen while presenting the ministry's half-yearly gauge on the economy to parliament on Monday.

Despite annual growth rates of around 2.5 percent since 2015, the Ministry of Finance now expects the economy to grow by 2.0 percent in 2019.

According to the ministry's calculations, growth will become even lower, with 1.5 percent expected in 2020 and only 1.4 percent in 2021.

"Although there is much that is going well in Denmark, we are a small and open economy that is incredibly dependent on what is happening in the world around us," said Wamman, adding that the ministry is also considering downgrading Denmark's growth estimate further.

"All in all, this means that although we now estimate slightly lower growth for 2020 and 2021, I cannot rule out that further downward adjustments may be coming," said the minister.
