Indian court convicts 4 in 2008 Jaipur serial blasts

NEW DELHI, Dec. 18 (Xinhua) -- An Indian court on Wednesday convicted four out of the five accused in the 2008 Jaipur serial blasts case in the western state of Rajasthan, officials said.

"A special court here today convicted under different sections of the law, including the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) four accused for 2008 bomb blasts case," an official in Jaipur said. "One accused has been acquitted."

According to the official, the court will announce the quantum of punishment on Friday.

Jaipur, the capital city of Rajasthan and one of the popular tourist destination witnessed a series of bomb blast on May 13, 2008 at eight different places. About eighty people were killed and more than 180 others wounded in these blasts.
