NANJING, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- Jonathan Gibson notched 38 points plus 13 rebounds to help Jiangsu Dragons see off Guangzhou Loong Lions 110-99 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Thursday.
Though Andrew Nicholson of Guangzhou posted a game-high 40 points and 14 rebounds, the visiting team could not keep out the chill of the winter in the city of Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu province, where they swallowed their seventh straight loss.
Both teams were not in their rhythm in the first quarter and had too many turnovers. But Jiangsu roared and battered their opponents in the second period led by Gibson as the hosts tallied 43 points, their season-high scoring record of a quarter to prevail 63-51 into the second half.
The game turned into a rout as Jiangsu stormed an 11-1 burst in the third quarter. Guangzhou did everything to rally but could not shave off the deficit.
