BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- Brunei is in the first half of the Northeast Monsoon which normally would receive a high amount of rainfall. The weather condition is expected to be rainy in most days up until the end of January 2020, the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department said.
In its latest update of weather forecast, the department said that unsettled weather conditions with occasional heavy showers or thunderstorms especially during the night and early morning are expected. Sea is likely to increase to a rough state of maximum 2 meters.
The department cautioned that during continuous and heavy rain, members of the public are urged to take note of the risk of flooding or flash floods especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas. The risk of landslides will also be high especially when heavy rainfall occurs continuously for more than two hours.
There is also a risk of severe flooding during the event of very heavy rain coinciding with high tide. Strong winds and rough sea conditions are dangerous especially to small crafts and sea recreational activities and sports.
The public especially road users and fishermen are advised to always be updated with the latest weather forecast, advisory and warning issued by the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department.
