NANJING, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- Police in the city of Zhangjiagang, east China's Jiangsu Province, have detained 335 suspects for organizing cross-border online gambling involving over 30 billion yuan (around 4.3 billion U.S. dollars).
According to the police, the gambling platform had 500,000 registered members. It was manipulated by the gang who changed the odds to ensure that gamblers who bet large amounts would lose.
With each round only lasting two minutes, the fast-paced game could earn the gang more than 10 million yuan a month.
Last August, the police made the arrests in Cambodia, the Philippines and the eastern Chinese province of Fujian, freezing more than 1,700 bank accounts.
Police said the gang was set up in 2016 in Fujian and gradually spread to Cambodia and the Philippines, with more than 500 members.
