NANJING, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- With three players scoring over 20 points, the Nanjing Monkey Kings showcased fierce attacking skills, overcoming the Jiangsu Dragons 119-111 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Sunday.

With the victory, Nanjing rose to 13th in the league standings, two places above Jiangsu, who have suffered six defeats in a row.

Sharp shooter Joseph Young who averages 34 points this season, racked up 38 points and seven assists for Nanjing. His teammates Song Jianhua and Hamed Haddadi combined to contribute 47 points.

Both sides played without much pressure in the first quarter but Nanjing turned up the heat in the next period as Young took consecutive tough shots and Haddadi who grabbed 23 rebounds, took charge of the paint, helping the visitors prevail 64-50 into the second half.

Jiangsu regrouped in the second half led by Gibson, who notched a game-high 40 points and scored 17 points alone in the third quarter. But their opponents seemed more balanced at offensive end, holding off the attack with quick answer balls.
