LAS VEGAS, United States, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Intel on Monday kicked off its presentation at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) with some high scoring sports technology that will literally change the game.

For athletes, Intel announced that they have partnered with Tokyo to deliver AI-Powered 3D Athlete-tracking for the 2020 Olympic Games.

This powerful tech creates accurate 3D modeling of athletes as they perform and compete, creating extensive performance databases that can enable athletes to track key influences on their performance and hone their capabilities.

It is likely to prove to be one of the most powerful and innovative athlete training tools that sports has ever seen, according to Ashton Eaton, two-time Olympic decathlon champion.

"Intel invited me to visit and gave me a tour of what they are doing, and I literally jumped at the chance to join them to help revolutionize sport," Eaton told Xinhua.

For sports fans at home, Intel said they developed near real-time 3D video footage capability, so immersive users can almost feel the gridiron beneath their feet or the racket in their hands.

According to James Carwana, vice president and general manager of Intel Sports, 3D volumetric video can be used by fans who want to lean in and interact with content or fans who want to lean back and get a personalized experience.

"A fan can go anywhere on the field they want," Carwana told Xinhua. "This is game-changing technology. It brings everyone onto the field."
