German shares edge up Wednesday

FRANKFURT, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- German stocks edged up on Wednesday, with the benchmark DAX index up 93.35 points, or 0.71 percent, to close at 13,320.18 points.

Deutsche Bank won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.38 percent. Sportswear and equipment maker Adidas and multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer rose by 2.75 percent and 2.59 percent respectively.

Chemical group BASF lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 0.86 percent. Telecommunications company Deutsche Telekom and global internet technology and financial services provider Wirecard went down by 0.40 percent and 0.09 percent respectively.

Multinational software corporation SAP was the most-traded share with a turnover of 245.5 million euros (272.8 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
