TOKYO, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks edged higher Friday morning with cyclical issues finding favor on the back of Wall Street's upbeat overnight lead.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 36.22 points, or 0.15 percent, from Thursday to 23,776.09.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 2.32 points, or 0.13 percent, at 1,731.37.
Machinery, pulp and paper, and pharmaceutical-linked issues comprises those that gained the most by the morning break.
