BUENOS AIRES, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Boca Juniors manager Miguel Angel Russo said Friday he won't rule out the possibility of signing Peru striker Paolo Guerrero and Colombian midfielder Edwin Cardona.

Guerrero has been at the center of transfer speculation since December but this week returned to training with Brazil's Internacional, where he has 18 months left on his contract.

"I don't take anything for granted because we still have the [transfer] passbook open and things can happen," Russo told reporters.

Cardona, who spent 18 months on loan at Boca in 2017 and 2018, is in the final year of a six-year deal with Monterrey, but is understood to have been told he is surplus to requirements at the Mexican club.

"He knows what Boca is about," Russo said. "We have talked about it but it's not easy. We don't have much time ... [and] I know what it costs in this country today to bring in a player from outside."

Boca are currently second in the 24-team Argentinian Superliga standings, one point behind leaders Argentinos Juniors.

They will return from the competition's summer recess with a home fixture against Independiente on January 26. Boca's 2020 Copa Libertadores debut will be against Caracas FC in Venezuela on March 3.
