WUHAN, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- A Ukiyo-e woodblock print exhibition opened in the city of Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, Wednesday.
A total of 46 exhibits are on display at the Hubei Provincial Museum, which show various aspects of the life and society in the Edo period of Japan (1603-1867).
Ukiyo-e is a unique Japanese folk print art that flourished in the Edo period of Japan. Artists produced woodblock prints and paintings of female figures, local customs, natural scenery, flowers and birds.
"I like cartoons and comics and try to get to leran about the Japanese culture as much as possible," said Zhan Shiran, a student from Hubei University. "It's a rare opportunity to see the exhibits and the layout of the exhibition hall also fits some young people's interest in Japanese culture."
The museum will deepen international cooperation and exchanges in 2020, and it is planning for an exhibition in the United States and co-planning a Renaissance exhibition with the Italian side, said Fang Qin, curator of the museum.
