CHENGDU, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Organizers of the 2021 FISU Summer World University Games are seeking creative ideas for the opening and closing ceremonies of the event.

The campaign is open to all, regardless of nationality, age, gender or profession, with the submission deadline on April 30, 2020, the Chengdu Organizing Committee for the 2021 FISU Summer World University Games announced at a press conference on Thursday.

10 ideas will be picked from those solicited and each will be rewarded RMB100,000 (about 14,500 US dollars). Creators of the most extraordinary ideas can also be invited to join the ceremonies work team.

As suggested in the instruction released at the press conference, designs for the ceremonies should demonstrate that "Chengdu Makes Dreams Come True," the official slogan of the games, and feature the "youth, joy and future of this era, enabling the ceremonies to function as links between China and the world."

The FISU World University Games, or Universiade, is organized by the Federation Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU), and is open to enrolled university students or graduates within two years after graduation (aged between 17 and 28).

In December 2018, Chengdu was officially announced as the host city of the 2021 Summer Universiade. Chengdu will become the first southwest Chinese city to ever host an international multi-sport event.
