RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Palmeiras forward Deyverson is set to join Spain's Getafe after the clubs reached an agreement for a loan deal.

The 28-year-old completed a medical in Madrid on Friday and is awaiting final paperwork to be signed by Palmeiras before the move is made official, according to media reports in Brazil.

Earlier on Friday, Deyverson bid farewell to Palmeiras fans on social media and apologized for not helping to deliver more silverware during his three years at the club.

"I'm sorry if at any time we did not give you the titles or results that you expected, but you can be sure that I always had the desire to win and give my all," Deyverson wrote on Instagram.

"Thanks to the fans, management, coaching staff, employees and teammates with whom I had the privilege to live daily and represent (Palmeiras)," he added.

Deyverson will initially join Getafe on a six-month loan but the deal could be made permanent in July if performance targets are met.

The Brazilian has had two previous spells in Spain, scoring nine goals in 33 league matches with Levante from 2015 to 2017 and seven goals in 40 appearances for Alaves in 2016 and 2017.
