Indonesia takes home golds in men's and women's doubles at Indonesia Masters

JAKARTA, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's Marcus Gideon and Kevin Sukamuljo took home the gold medal in the men's doubles after defeating their compatriots Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan in the Indonesia Masters 2020 final match on Sunday.

The duo defeated Ahsan and Setiawan in 32 minutes with scores of 21-15 21-16.

Meanwhile, in the women's doubles, Indonesia's Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu secured the gold medal after defeating Denmark's Maiken Fruergaard and Sara Thygesen in the finals in three sets.

The duo beat the Danes in an hour and 20 minutes by 18-21, 21-11, 23-21.

The Indonesia Masters 2020 is taking place from January 14 to 19 at the Istora Senayan sports stadium in Indonesia's capital city of Jakarta.

The total prize money for the event is 400,000 U.S. dollars, which is up about 14 percent from that of the same event in 2019.
