LES ROUSSES, France, Jan. 20 (Xinhua) -- With three individual champions in their squad, Austria sealed the mixed team ski jumping title at the 3rd Winter Youth Olympic Games here on Monday.

The event features two Nordic combined athletes and two ski jumpers. Each athlete makes two jumps before the total score decides the rankings.

In the first jump, women's individual Nordic Combined champion Lisa Hirner and men's counterpart Stefan Rettenegger posted scores of 112.1 and 131.8 points respectively for Austria.

Julia Muehlbacher recorded 124.7 points, while men's individual ski jumping champion Marco Woergoetter jumped 91.5 meters to gain a group-best 131.3 points.

Austria held a 28.3-point advantage over nearest rivals Japan at the intermediate point.

Germany did better than Austria halfway through the first jump, as Jenny Nowak and Jan Andersen scored 114.6 and 132.3 points respectively.

However, with Michelle Goebel disqualified shortly afterwards, Germany failed to trouble Austria further.

Austria steadily extended their advantage over Japan in the second jump. Despite Woergoetter's final jump being a conservative 80.0 meters, it was enough to secure Austria's overall win with a total of 986.4 points.

Japan finished second with 938.0 points. Local favorite Josephine Pagnier posted a group-best 121.3 points in her second jump and helped France take the bronze medal with 886.7 points in total.
