BERLIN, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- The ZEW indicator of economic sentiment for Germany stood at 26.7 points in January, an increase of 16.0 points compared to the previous month, according to the monthly expert survey published by the Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) on Tuesday.

The ZEW indicator of economic sentiment in Germany had "risen sharply" at the beginning of 2020 and was at the highest level since July 2015, according to the ZEW survey of 194 analysts and investors.

"The German economy developed slightly better than expected in the previous year," said ZEW President Achim Wambach. "Although the outlook has improved, growth is still expected to remain below average."

The expectations of the financial market experts regarding the economic development of the euro zone had also "considerably improved once again," ZEW noted.
