ULAN BATOR, Jan. 23 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's central bank has injected a total of 230.4 million U.S. dollars into the market since the beginning of this year to stabilize the exchange rate of the Mongolian national currency tugrik, the bank said Thursday.

The figure is up 35 percent from the same period last year, the Bank of Mongolia said in a statement on its official website.

The Mongolian currency's exchange rates against its foreign counterparts such as the U.S. dollar and the Chinese yuan have gone down in recent years.

The exchange rate of the tugrik against the U.S. dollar fell by 3.4 percent year on year in 2019, according to the country's National Statistical Office (NSO).

The tugrik also depreciated by 1.5 percent against the Chinese yuan in 2019. One yuan bought 388.75 Mongolian tugriks at the end of last year.
