GAZA, Jan. 28 (Xinhua) -- Thousands of Palestinians rallied in Gaza in protest against the U.S. Middle East peace plan on Tuesday ahead of the release of the plan later in the day.

The demonstration, organized by Palestinian factions, took place in front of the headquarters of the United Nations Relief and Work Agency for Palestine Refugees in central Gaza city.

Thousands of demonstrators marched toward the Ansar square in western Gaza.

The participants waved Palestinian flags and carried banners reading "we are rejecting the Deal of the Century" and "our rights won't be eliminated."

Different factions, including Fatah party, Islamic Hamas movement, Islamic Jihad movement and the leftist groups joined the mass rally.

Leaders of the factions stressed that the best way to thwart Trump's plan is to restore national unity.

Ismail Radwan, senior Hamas leader, who joined the protests in eastern Gaza, said that "today, we are all united against the U.S. deal sponsored by Trump."

He highlighted that the Palestinian people have several chances to act against the "Deal of the Century," including military escalation.

Abu Juda al-Nahal, a Fatah party leader, told Xinhua that the "Deal of the Century" will face great obstacles in its implementation, since "all of us support our leadership, which is rejecting the U.S. plan."

Amar Kaskin, a Gaza resident, participated with his family in the mass rally.

"We come here to prove to the world that we live in our Palestinian land, and we will not give it up one day," he said while carrying a Palestinian flag.

He added that "the Palestinian youths will defend their land forever."
