JERUSAELM, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- Israel and the Netherlands agreed on cooperation in innovation and circular economy, the Israeli Ministry of Economy said on Tuesday.

Circular economy is a new sustainable model that keeps resources in use for as long as possible, extracts the maximum value from them while in use, and then recovers and regenerates products and materials at the end of each service life.

Promoting the circular economy model is expected to produce a solution to the climate crisis while maintaining economic growth.

The two countries also agreed on the promotion of industrial research and development (R&D), ahead of the next EU Horizon Europe R&D program, which is expected to start in 2021.

The collaborations were agreed at a meeting held in the coastal city of Tel Aviv, between Israeli Economy Minister Eli Cohen and Sigrid Kaag, minister of Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation of the Netherlands.
