HONG KONG, Feb. 4 (Xinhua) -- The spokesperson of the Office of the Commissioner of the Chinese Foreign Ministry in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) on Tuesday refuted wrong remarks on Hong Kong reportedly made by former governor of Hong Kong Chris Patten and urged him to immediately stop using any excuse to meddle in Hong Kong affairs.

The affairs of Hong Kong, a special administrative region of China, are purely China's internal affairs, The spokesperson said, urging Patten to put himself in the right position and respect the facts.

Since Hong Kong's return to the motherland in 1997, the implementation of the policies of "one country, two systems," "Hong Kong people governing Hong Kong," and a high degree of autonomy has achieved universally recognized success.

However, Patten and some others, still indulging in the dream of colonialism, often make unwarranted remarks and meddle in Hong Kong affairs in an attempt to contradict history, facts and justice, the spokesperson pointed out.

What they did have been condemned and spurned by all the Chinese people including Hong Kong compatriots, the spokesperson added.

"Hong Kong is China's Hong Kong and no external forces shall be allowed to dictate. We solemnly warn the likes of Chris Patten against daydreaming about colonialism," the spokesperson said.
