BEIRUT, Feb. 8 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Foreign Minister Nassif Hitti announced that Prime Minister Hassan Diab will soon visit Gulf and Arab countries to boost ties with the Arab world, a local media outlet reported Saturday.

"The main goal of our government in the coming period is to strengthen our relations with Arab countries and the international community in addition to saving our country from its economic and financial crisis," Hitti was quoted as saying by Elnashra, an online independent newspaper.

The government will commit to the ministerial statement that emphasizes good ties with Arab countries on the basis of mutual interests, he added.

Supported by the parliamentary majority, Diab formed on Jan. 21 a government of 19 ministers who are specialists and academics.

However, the new cabinet has been labelled as Hezbollah's cabinet which poses great challenges for Lebanon with regard to its relations with Arab countries.

Diab has repreatedly denied this, saying the current cabinet will work in favor of all Lebanese people.
