NAIROBI, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- Kenya will hold its annual cross country championships on Saturday in Nairobi but the fight against the doping menace that threatens the country's reputation was the focus on the eve on the event.

Athletics Kenya (AK) hosted its latest anti-doping seminar where the president of AK Jackson Tuwei announced they will soon establish a body that will help in seeking prosecution of athletes involved in doping violations.

"So that in case of a doping violation against an athlete, we don't talk about athletes only, coaches, managers and athletes representatives will be responsible too. We must work together and help athletes to run clean," the federation chief said.

The proposed body will consist of a lawyer, doctor and investigative officer and will complement the efforts of the Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK).

Despite the criminalization of doping in 2016, Kenya is yet to witness a successful conviction of an athlete, coach, manager or agent found guilty of being involved in or abetting doping as the cases continue to rise.

So far this year, two high profile Kenyan athletes have received the provisional suspension from competition.
