DAKAR, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Four American corporations signed on Sunday five agreements with Senegalese state-owned companies, agencies and Senegalese government, during the visit of U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.

The five documents for development, financing and execution of projects in the energy, health and infrastructure sectors, were signed under the supervision of Pompeo and the Senegalese Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation Amadou Hott.

The documents include a protocol of agreement for the construction of a 165 km long highway connecting Dakar and northern city of Saint-Louis and a memorandum of understanding with the Senegalese Ministry of Economy, Planning and Cooperation for establishment of a funding mechanism for social infrastructure projects.

Pompeo described the signing of the five agreements was "a very good job", saying it would benefit both Senegal and the American companies

For his part, Hott assured that the Senegalese government will work hard to "concretize" these projects.

Pompeo's visit is seen as part of the efforts to deepen cooperation between Senegal and the United States. After Senegal, Pompeo's first african tour will take him to Angola and Ethiopia.
