AMMAN, Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Yemen's warring parties reached an agreement in Amman on Sunday to swap prisoners, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
The representatives of the Yemeni government and the Houthis agreed on a detailed plan to exchange prisoners as the first step to implement pledges and agreements reached between the two aides according to Stockholm Agreement in 2018.
The deal was reached during the third round of meetings between the sides in Amman. The meetings included representatives of the two sides and members of the UN, several Arab states and the International Committee for the Red Cross.
UN Special Envoy for Yemen Martin Griffiths urged the two sides to speed up the implementation of the agreement to end the suffering of thousands.
Under the deal, the two sides agreed to facilitate the communication between the prisoners and their relatives and families.
The two sides also agreed to hold another meeting at the end of March to discuss further details and issues related to the prisoners.
