COPENHAGEN, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Denmark will soon resume training of Iraqi forces at Al-Asad base in Iraq, the Ministry of Defence announced in a press release on Monday.

The announcement came following an assessment by the leadership of the NATO-led coalition.

The coalition's training missions at Al-Asad base have been suspended since Jan. 8 following an Iranian missile attack upon the base.

"In the fight against terror, it is important that Iraq is not again the hotbed of terrorists' recruitment and training," said Minister of Defence Trine Bramsen. "That is why it is important that we resume the training of Iraqi security personnel so that in the long run they can take care of the security of Iraq themselves."

Denmark currently has 80 soldiers at Al-Asad base, where they mainly advise and train Iraqi security forces. An additional 60 soldiers will soon be deployed to the base to further boost the Danish effort in the region. Enditem
