BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese medical researchers have developed a type of protective gel paster to help ease irritation on the faces of medical staff, which are caused by goggles and masks they have to wear for long periods of time while fighting against the novel coronavirus.

According to Science and Technology Daily on Friday, the protective paster, with skin-like texture, stays firmly in place while helping promote blood circulation in skin cells to help avoid facial injuries and secondary infections.

Covered with a medical hydrocolloid surgical dressing, the face will feel less pressure from the goggles and masks, said the newspaper. The substrate layer of the gel paster is made of high polymer material.

A total of 6,000 pasters have been sent to the Huoshenshan Hospital in Wuhan, central China's Hubei Province, said the newspaper.
