SHANGHAI, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai has cracked down on 268 cases concerning the epidemic prevention and control, 196 of which involved masks, a local official said Friday.

The main crimes involve price-fixing and manufacturing and selling fake or substandard products, according to Peng Wenhao, deputy director of the municipal administration for market regulation.

The mask-related illegal acts include price gouging, manufacturing unapproved masks and tampering with the date of production, he said.

According to Peng, local authorities have also stepped up online inspections, busting 57 cases involving sales through the Internet.
