German manufacturers' export expectations fall for 2nd consecutive month

BERLIN, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- German manufacturers' expectations in export growth has worsened again for the second consecutive month in February, the ifo Institute for Economic Research reported on Tuesday.

The outlook value fell to minus 0.7 points in February from 0.8 points in January, the Munich-based think tank said.

According to the report, only the food, beverage, and tobacco manufacturers expect significant growth in their exports in the coming months. The manufacturers of automotive industry, chemical industry and mechanical engineering sector all expect decline in exports.

"German exports are currently making no headway," ifo President Clemens Fuest noted.

The ifo Export Expectations are based on around 2,300 monthly reports from manufacturers, who are asked to report their export expectations for the next three months.
