TIRANA, Feb. 25 (Xinhua) -- The Council of Ministers of Albania has decided to open a Consulate General in the town of Struga, located in the southwestern region of North Macedonia, it was announced on Tuesday.
Via a Facebook post, Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Gent Cakaj called the news "fantastic" for Albania and Albanians.
According to the minister, the decision is in line with the plan of the government to deepen interaction with Albanians in the region.
"This consulate will have a special role to play for further enhancing the economic, social and cultural relations between the region and Albania," he added.
The Consulate General will offer services for several towns in North Macedonia such as Struga, Ohrid, Bitola, Kicevo, and Gevgelija.
